A suggestion was made to choose only one refuse collection company to pick up the trash and recycling within LFCA. Some of the reasons put forth in support of this proposal were: better rates for the individual, fewer trucks in the subdivision, and better safety for our children.

On the down side, the Board can select a company that will give us the best rate, but who do we pick that the majority will agree on? There are some folks who are quite adamant about one company or another. What will we do if someone tells us they want to haul their own trash? Also, the association would be responsible for the bills and thus would raise dues to cover the cost. What are we going to do about those who pay late or don't pay at all. Lastly, the time to administer this type of program goes well beyond the scope of the volunteer work done by the current Board. LFCA would have to hire a management company to handle the additional workload. In all likelyhood, this cost would negate any savings.
