Lake Forest Community Association Board of Directors

Minutes of May, 2002

The Board met at the home of Steve Gilbert on 16 May 2002.  In attendance were Steve Gilbert, Evelyn Hempstead, Harry Hopkins and Dave Wilson and Bev Franklin. Meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m.

Treasurer’s Report

Steve reported that there were 14 homeowners to collect from for dues.

New Business

Evelyn contacted Mark who said he would work with us on the plantings for the three entrances.  He suggested three-gallon containers instead of one-gallon since it is a "commercial" endeavor.  The larger plants will have a better chance for survival.  The existing plants will be relocated to better places and two plants (that had been stolen) need to be replaced. The area on Modisto Lane is mostly clay and needs to be dug out and dirt added before the stone can be done. Because of the added work to get Modisto ready and the three gallon plants, Evelyn requested an additional $1,000 to complete this for this year.  Evelyn will talk to the homeowners nearby who had said they would water the plants to let them know they will need to do that soon.  The board unanimously approved the additional $1,000.

Dave turned in a receipt for $47.12 for a newspaper ad for the homeowner's yard sale.

After a discussion about an audit, it was decided to ask Jim Evans to contact the person he knows who could do it. We need to do that while Gene is still available.

At the June meeting, three board members' terms are up: Jennifer Yurina (who resigned), Harry Hopkins and Gene Cole.  Harry said he would continue so two board members are needed.  This will go on the reminder card for the June meeting.

Topics for the annual meeting: trail maintenance update, entrance beautification, election of two board members and community award presentation.

The board approved $100 for Dave to purchase award plaques for retiring board members, Jennifer and Gene.

Harry reported that the web site cost has dropped to $99/year and $20/year for domain service registration totaling $119, down from $360. New postings include information from Cox cable, AAA trash service and a request for candidates for the board positions. He also stated that at the bottom of the front page, there is a line showing the number of times the web site has been visited.

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
